Community in Action: SCHEELS Employees Make a Difference with Palmer

Back to blog feed

Last week, SCHEELS, a proud business sponsor of Palmer Land Conservancy, demonstrated the power of community through their Helping Hands Program, a company-wide initiative encouraging employees to volunteer locally. Over two days, nearly 20 SCHEELS employees came together to positively impact local land.

The SCHEELS team participated in stewarding Palmer-protected properties in Black Forest by picking up trash and removing noxious weeds, non-native plants that are detrimental to the environment, agriculture, or human health. Controlling noxious weeds is crucial for protecting native ecosystems and protecting the region's biodiversity from aggressive invasive species that can outcompete local plants. Additionally, noxious weed management helps protect agricultural productivity and reduces wildfire risk. These efforts are part of Palmer's mission to support landowners in protecting and enhancing Colorado’s landscapes.

Private land conservation is crucial. These Palmer-protected properties provide vital habitats for wildlife, including pronghorn, and offer stunning views of Colorado’s cherished grasslands. By partnering with Palmer, SCHEELS helps ensure these beautiful spaces remain intact for future generations.

This collaboration exemplifies how businesses can contribute to local conservation efforts and inspire others to take action. SCHEELS and Palmer demonstrate how partnerships and communities can come together to ensure people and nature thrive in southern Colorado now and into the future.
