Our New Name

Palmer Land Conservancy—more than a land trust

Through pivotal times in our history, nature has remained a constant source of inspiration, respite, and refuge. The events of 2020 have only underscored the important role the outdoors plays in our daily life. Land is crucial to our mental and physical health, secure food supply, and community strength during tough times.  Land remains essential to our quality of life.

We believe that present and future generations should have access to the quality of life that Colorado offers—and conservation is what makes that possible. Our rebrand focuses on that simple truth.

More than a land trust, Palmer Land Conservancy is a proud protector of land, nature, open space, and the experiences that Colorado’s great outdoors provide us—the Colorado Good Life.

Behind the Name

When considering a new name, it was important to us that it embraced our future goals while honoring our founding vision. What began in 1977 as the volunteer-led William J. Palmer Parks Foundation, helping the City of Colorado Springs’ Parks Department to identify and acquire new public parks and open spaces, evolved into Palmer Land Trust.

Since then we have worked alongside private and public landowners throughout southern Colorado to conserve more than 136,000 acres of your favorite parks and open spaces, important working farms and ranches, and iconic scenic views. Palmer Land Conservancy reflects the legacy of our heritage, and our exciting future charting a path for 21st century conservation for everyone.

A New Look

Like our name, we wanted our new logo and branding to more authentically communicate the spirit of who we are and where we are going. Inspired by the land here in southern Colorado, our new look integrates symbols of land, life, and growth. The shield exemplifies our commitment to the land, and evokes the iconic mountains and landscape that surround us.

Loving a place is just the beginning; you must have the courage to protect it.

The land doesn’t protect itself. It needs a community of courageous land lovers like you to help conserve it forever. Please join Palmer Land Conservancy because together, we can ensure the Colorado we enjoy today is here forever. #BeALandLover
