A Fun Bike Ride and Farm Tour

Hit the bike trail with Palmer Land Conservancy and friends on September 24, 2021 for our first annual Bike the Bessemer event. This fun-filled and educational ride will showcase some of Pueblo County’s premier agricultural lands and essential water resources. Begin your morning with an easy 11-mile bike ride with stops at local farms and farm-stands where you will receive a behind-the-scenes look and learn directly from the farmers about their operations. While you’re there, purchase some fresh produce, and we’ll shuttle it back to your car for you. Along the way, we will ride near the historic Bessemer Irrigation Ditch and learn about the importance of this critical water resource to maintaining Pueblo’s agricultural heritage. Learn more about the ditch here.

Farm-to-Table Lunch & Program

After your ride, you’ll enjoy a delicious farm-to-table lunch featuring ingredients sourced directly from the farmers in Pueblo County. Your registration also includes a lunch program where we will showcase our partners and information about the on-the-ground innovative conservation work that Palmer is doing to preserve local agriculture.

Your ride will include the following stops and tours:

The Fine Print

Bike helmets are required while on the ride. Please note that while this is a morning event, temperatures can still get hot, so please remember to bring a water bottle with you and stay well hydrated. You will have the opportunity to refill on the ride. While this is a relatively flat ride, we also recommend you be comfortable with the distance. Some of the route will involve riding on dirt and gravel road, so be sure you and your tires are prepared! This is not a ride suited for young kids.
