Summer Solstice Hike at the Paint Mines

Experience the beauty of nature and celebrate conservation with Palmer Land Conservancy at our Summer Solstice Hike at Paint Mines Interpretive Park. Join us as we explore the park's other-worldly geological formations.

Guided by interpretive staff from El Paso County Parks, you'll begin by meandering through short-grass prairie in the northern section of the park, which is permanently protected by Palmer Land Conservancy. As the trail descends into the ravine, you'll gain your first glimpses of the Park's most iconic scenery before entering the primary amphitheater of stunning, colorful rock formations. Your guides will share a wealth of information regarding the park's geologic and cultural history, illustrating the critical importance of conservation work in preserving our region's most beautiful landscapes.

Please note that this hike will take place over an area with limited shade and no access to restrooms. A full water bottle, sunscreen/hat, and any other items necessary for personal comfort are recommended.

Space for this event is limited. Please register by June 18th, 2024.
