As Colorado grows, protecting what makes our home special is vital.
Join us in conserving the land and water that unite us.
Lace up your hiking shoes and join Palmer Land Conservancy for our annual Sip & Stroll, featuring a guided hike at Santa Fe Open Space—a Palmer protected property. Over a warm cup of coffee, learn about this unique landscape with stunning views of Ben Lomond Mountain, Elephant Rock, and Mount Herman near Palmer Lake.
Originally owned by by General William J. Palmer, our organization's namesake and founder of Colorado Springs, the land encompassing Santa Fe Open Space transferred hands across numerous landowners before being protected forever as a conserved property in 2007. Palmer has now stewarded this beloved landscape for nearly two decades, providing vital space for wildlife, and since 2022, the public has enjoyed newly constructed trails on the property.
Palmer's Land Stewardship Director, Steve Harris, will be our guide as we explore both the fascinating history and modern-day conservation accomplishments of Santa Fe Open Space and adjacently conserved properties.
Palmer will provide coffee and a variety of snacks and pastries: all you'll need is your hiking essentials.
