Recently, Palmer participated in the 10th Annual Pikes Peak Birding and Nature Festival, an event that celebrates the natural heritage of the Pikes Peak Region, particularly its birds. This birding and nature festival promotes conservation and education, and is known for its "Prairie to Peak" motto, reflecting the variety of habitats found in the region. Aligning with the spring migration of birds along the Front Range, this year’s event offered 68 field trips, 13 seminars, five workshops, and the signature “Birds, Brews and Bites” get-together. Jolene Collins, Palmer’s Community Engagement Manager, joined for the field trip at Pueblo’s Nature Center led by Claire Ramos, an Ornithology professor at CSU Pueblo. With expert insights, the group identified 73 species of birds along the Arkansas River!
